CNPC starts oil refinery construction in Chad, South Africa

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), an oil and gas producer and supplier in China, has entered into an agreement with Chad, South Africa to build N'Djamena oil refinery in Chad, Central Africa.
The installation work of the N'Djamena Refinery began on March 10, 2010. The 1Mt/a refinery is composed of refining units, a self-service power plant, a product oil marketing center and a staff camp, covering an area of 25 square kilometers.
The refinery is equipped with production units such as atmospheric distillation, HOC (heavy oil catalysis), catalytic reforming (CR), hydrofining, gas fractionation, polypropylene and product purification as well as public utilities. It will mainly process the crude from Block H operated by CNPC International (Chad) Limited and will produce gasoline, diesel, kerosene, polypropylene, liquefied gas and fuel oil. The self-service power plant will also supply electricity to N'Djamena, the capital city of Chad.
