Published: 10-Mar-2010
Eolica Bulgaria and Balkars Consortium are constructing a wind park with a 60 megawatt (MW) capacity in Souvorovo, northeastern Bulgaria.
Souvorovo is about 70km northwest of Varna. The new facility is expected to cost around EUR82 million ($111 million), of which EUR60 million ($81 million) will be provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) in a syndicated loan with Eolica Bulgaria. Another EUR22 million ($30 million) is likely to be provided by the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank.
The proposed wind farm will consist of 30 turbines, each with 2MW capacity. Additionally, the complex will be equipped with its own auxiliary infrastructure, road network and installations linking it to the national power grid. Overall construction has been given to Engstroiengineering EOOD, while the Spanish firm Gamesa has been contracted for the erection of the 80 meter towers.
